Synodic Moon
Paiste Planet Gongs are tuned to the orbits of the celestial bodies in our solar system. These frequencies are made audible thanks to the work of Hans Cousto, author of The Cosmic Octave. Planet Gongs are similar to Paiste's Symphonic Gongs however the difference is that each gong is tuned to a dominant fundamental tone as well as a prominent harmonic overtone in the 4th octave.
The word "synod" means coming together. The synodic month is the middle period from one new moon to the next. Or the period taken by the moon to make one complete revolution around the earth, between two successive new moons; 29.530 59 days (approximately 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, 3 seconds) At new moon the sun is in conjunction with the moon (the same direction in the sky). The calendar month is derived from the synodic month.
The New Moon gong evokes openness and fertility. It creates a ceremonial landscape into which intentions may be seeded and take fruit.
Lunar cycles are intimately related to our sense of rhythm, place and punctuation, letting us know when things are in sync or out of place in our lives. Being comprised of 80% water we resonate deeply with vibrations that allow us to return to our cosmic selves. Our natural body rhythms and moods are intimately influenced by the lunar energy.
